Have You Tried A Low Carb Diet Plan?

Have you ever tried a low carb diet plan? There are quite a few to choose from, with the most famous being the Atkins Diet plan.  Some of these diet plans work better than others and too often people fall off the diet after a few weeks.

Finding Low Carb Diet Plans That Work

When low carb diet plans first came on the scene, people seemed all too excited. Everyone felt that this was the end of their days as fat people. However, the truth was somewhat different. People who were having success with low carb diet plans gradually began to realise that the success did not last forever. It was not a fad diet. It just changed how they thought about food.

Most low carb diet plans, particularly the more popular ones, are best taken only with a grain of salt because even though one might work wonderfully for your friend, it might not work as well for you. For people with more serious health issues and who already have co-existing conditions like hyperglycemia (blood sugar levels too high) or diabetes, the popular low carb diets usually won’t be very helpful. In these cases, people need to make an effort to ensure that their carbohydrates are coming from healthy sources.

The initial low carb diet plans focused on giving people a way to lose weight by severely restricting carbohydrates in the diet. They would either severely restrict all carbohydrates, or reduce them so severely that most people would struggle to cope. Both of these approaches have been proven to be ineffective. People will still find that they have some difficulty maintaining a proper blood sugar level and will experience other long term side effects like hypoglycemia. In some extreme cases, the diet can also lead to liver failure.

There Are Many Low Carb Diets Plans

Now, there are low carb diet plans that allow you to eat some carbohydrates, but at a much lower quantity than you might normally do. This allows you to still lose weight but not at the same extreme as before. The problem is that you aren’t receiving any kind of nutrition, and your blood sugar levels are still likely to be erratic. If you aren’t careful, you can easily develop a dependence to these low carb diet plans and be unable to avoid eating them altogether.

There are more effective low carb diet plans that allow you to eat a little bit of carbohydrates but keep it moderate. This means that you can still lose weight, but you can also ensure that your blood glucose levels are not completely dependent on your foods. You’ll still get the protein and the fiber that you need, but you won’t have to worry about spikes in your blood sugar due to eating too many carbs. As long as you’re not following one of the extreme diets, you’ll see reasonable results without any health risks. Of course, you will have to make sure that your diet plans allow you to include some whole grains and some protein, so that you can meet all of your daily nutritional needs.

The good news is that you don’t need to go on an extreme weight loss plan if you aren’t prepared to do it. In fact, most low carb diet plans actually encourage you to take it slow and only eat small portions of carbohydrates. By doing this, you can slowly work your way towards reaching your ideal weight and gradually make carb-free foods a part of your normal eating habits.
